Advisory Board
The Management Board of Balance decided several years ago to set up an Advisory Board. The Advisory Board supervises
the activities of the Management Board from the client's perspective and pinpoints opportunities and threats.
The Advisory Board considers the company's entire scope of activity and its overall positioning.
The Advisory Board meets at least twice a year.
The
members of the Advisory Board are Gerd Weyers, Joof Schöpping and Bram Adema.
Gerd Weyers initially taught literature at Amsterdam University. He founded Balance together with Suzanne Gijsen in 1983.
Gerd is the author of several publications on the subject of legal translation. Since stepping down from Balance's Management Board
in 2001, Gerd has assisted its current management as an external advisor. He is also
chair of the Advisory Board.
Gerd is a member of the
European Society for Translation Studies.
Joof Schöpping studied economics in Groningen and Amsterdam and law in his home town of Maastricht. Following graduation,
he joined the Law IT section at Maastricht University. As the acting director of the Faculty of Law, he assisted in heading a
reorganisation and crucial audit. He is now a financial controller and the project manager for a major ICT project.
Joof was active for many years in the care sector for the mentally disabled. He was involved in various mergers and the restructuring
of the Radar Foundation. He also devotes much of his time to
Gianni,
a publishing house that he founded with three friends in 2002.
Bram Adema studied technical business administration (Twente 1989), strategy (Kellogg 1998) and financial management (Harvard 2000).
He has worked as a strategic consultant for major facility management organisations and as a manager for large-scale service providers.
He has also gained experience in benchmarking, implementation, performance contracting, cost reductions and outsourcing.
Bram is currently the managing director of
FlexOffice, which provides turnkey accommodation
at prices comparable to non-flexible accommodation. Bram contributes his specific knowledge of benchmarking and strategy
to Balance's Advisory Board.
